If you're here then you may already know a little bit about WaveRaider History, but if not here goes. In '94 when the WaveRaider was first released Yamaha used Fiberglass for the hull. These are the "Purple Hull" raiders, where the lower part of the hull came Purple. From '95 on Yamaha switched to Sheet Molded Composite (SMC), this was done to make the hull stronger. I believe in anticipation of the larger 1100 3-Cyl engine option that was introduced. However the big negative to the SMC hulls is that they're 100 lbs heavier!!!
So that brings us up to speed on two things. . . the hull, and the engine for this project. Both are WaveRaider units, but the these two never left the factory together.
First I bought a blown up '96 WaveRaider 1100 for $250, sans trailer. Originally I was just going to rebuild and run it as is. Then I was scrolling through marketplace when I ran across a Free posting for a '94 WaveRaider. It was just the hull, but it was only about 15 min away from me, so I sent a DM, and a short while later a very crusty Purple hull arrived at the Vhickle Garage.
