This one legitimately was a gift. . .This Truck belonged to my 2nd cousin, but I grew up remembering it belonging to his dad, my great uncle. I grew up and moved away. Years later ultimately moving close to where my 2nd cousin lived. He had re-acquired this truck after my Uncle had passed away. However, he was selling his house and the truck was destined for the junkyard unless I wanted to tow it home and keep it.
So that's exactly what I did. Turns out the reason it was inoperable was because of the little piece of rubber hose that joins the fuel pump and the sending unit. The 1st replacement fuel pump was killed by rust in the tank. . .so one new tank, and a 2nd new fuel pump later the 305 coughed back into life.
I did all the usual stuff. Spark Plugs, Plug Wires, Distributor Cap, Rotor, Ignition Module. I also changed all the fluids and recharged the A/C. Aside from the 1st year GMT400 brakes, and the 3 Speed Turbo 350, it was a great running truck.
It served us well for a few years. As both a truck, and a storage shed. A Brown on Tan truck with a Bed Cap looks pretty old manish, but it made for fantastic storage for a lot of the outdoor implements.
Not long after I got the S10 Blazer I shipped the C1500 back to Ohio to one of my other cousins. A couple years after that his dad drove it back down to FL. Few years later it went back up to Ohio yet again. It now lives with on with one of his cousins on the other side of his family.
Safe to say that truck has been back and forth between Ohio and Florida many, many times. I hope it lives on to make yet another round trip.
This one was my first experience with GMT400 ownership, and as much as I love the S10 Blazer I kept wanting for more. Which is in large part how we ended up with the '99 Suburban. . . Which has already been back and forth from Ohio to Florida, then two trips from Florida to Ohio and back again. Our Vhickles do a lot of miles on I-75!!
