I bought the S10 Blazer all the way back in 2017. I originally set out for a full size Tahoe, or Yukon, but I kept seeing the listing for this one pop up on Craigslist. . . back when most people still used it. After a failed attempt to buy a Black '97 Tahoe, I decided to take a chance on the S10 Blazer.
The ad was clear that while the Blazer did run and technically "drove" that it wasn't going to be able to make the 2 hour drive home to Tampa from Orlando where it was located. There was a problem with the suspension, and the transmission had no 2nd or 4th gear. Seeing as the seller was only asking $750 I decided to take a chance. . . . Again old day when you could buy a half way decent car, that needs some work, for under a $1000!
I didn't feel like the 305/Turbo 350 and 1st year GMT400 brakes were sufficient in my '88 C1500, so I rented both a Truck and Trailer from my local U-Haul to make the 4 hr round trip.
After I got it home and did an assessment I discovered that the 2-4 Band in the 4l60E was bad, being the reason that I didn't have 2nd or 4th gear. I also discovered that the upper control arm bushing had disintegrated to the point of non-existence.
It took a few months in total but I set about rebuilding the transmission myself, then I ended up replacing nearly all of the Suspension AND Steering Components.
SeaFoam Treatment!
I decided to Swap my 4l60e for an Nv3500
