After I sold of that '97 Dodge Neon I had I started looking for something else. I knew that as much as I enjoyed driving the Trans Am as a daily, that daily driving it in Winter wasn't going to be good for it's longevity. So I started looking for something else. With a heavy focus on the 92-94, and secondarily 94-96 Camrys.
Seeing as I found the Trans Am on eBay I looked there. In Stow, OH a few hours away I found it. A White 1993 Camry XLE V6 Gold Edition. It had essentially every available option from the factory. . . Rolling out with a sticker price of $29,000. Almost $10k more than my dad paid for his/my LE. Wowzah! Both seem cheap now don't they?
Anyway I won the bid and the car. My parents drove up North picked it up, then dropped it off to me at UK. When it arrived it had no muffler to speak of. Not from rust, but rather the previous owner removed it. He had also installed a custom shift knob, and a power, pop-out video screen head unit. . .a couple of the things that I liked about the car. The biggest downside I found out was that the P.O. had also had a nitrous oxide kit installed. Apparently it did like 15.59s in the 1/4. . . Still slow lol.
He did take the Nitrous kit off before selling to me, but those passes certainly didn't do the transmission any favors. It never went out on me, but toward the end of my tenure I could tell it was going to soon need some attention.
I ended up trading this one in for my 2004 Audi A4, but like the 1st Camry, a big part of me wishes that I would have held on to it.
